๐ข Applications are invited from eligible officers in the Sri Lanka Animal Production and Health Service for the Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the Posts of Veterinary Research Officer and Research Officer โ 2026.
According to the Gazette notification, there are 12 vacancies for Veterinary Research Officers and 03 vacancies for Research Officers.

๐ Qualifications โ Veterinary Research Officer
Applicants for the post of Veterinary Research Officer should:
โ Have completed a minimum of 1 year and maximum of 3 years of permanent service as a Veterinary Surgeon in the Sri Lanka Animal Production and Health Service.
โ Possess a four-year degree in the relevant field of Veterinary Science with a First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) pass.
Additional Requirements
๐น Should not have been subjected to disciplinary punishment under Public Service Commission Circular No. 01/2020.
๐น Should have earned salary increments in the preceding years.
๐ Special provision: On this occasion only, Veterinary Surgeons in the Sri Lanka Animal Production and Health Service who were appointed in 2016 will be eligible to apply for the Veterinary Research Officer post.
๐ Qualifications โ Research Officer
Applicants for the Research Officer post should:
โ Have completed a minimum of 1 year and maximum of 3 years of satisfactory permanent service as a Veterinary Surgeon or Livestock Officer in the Sri Lanka Animal Production and Health Service.
โ Possess a four-year degree in the relevant field of:
- Veterinary Science
- Animal Husbandry
- Agriculture Science
The degree should carry a First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) pass.
Additional Requirements
๐น Should not have been subjected to disciplinary punishment under Public Service Commission Circular No. 01/2020.
๐น Should have earned salary increments in the preceding years.
๐ Special provision: On this occasion only, Veterinary Surgeons and Livestock Officers appointed in 2016 will be eligible to apply for the Research Officer post.

Candidates are also required to follow the rules and regulations issued by the Director General of Animal Production and Health regarding the examination and release of results.

The Aptitude Test consists of 50 questions in multiple-choice and short-answer formats.
It is designed to test:

All questions must be answered.
๐ Selection & Recruitment
Recruitment will be based on the merit achieved at the written competitive examination.
Depending on the examination results and existing vacancies, officers obtaining the highest marks will be appointed by the Public Service Commission in order of merit.
โ ๏ธ Once an appointment is made as a Veterinary Research Officer or Research Officer based on the results of this written examination, there will be no opportunity for re-appointment to the posts of Veterinary Surgeon/Livestock Officer.
