The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has announced the 2nd Efficiency Bar Examination for Officers of the Sri Lanka Principals Service – 2026.

The examination is intended for Officers in Grade II of the Sri Lanka Principals Service and officers appointed to Grade II of Class 2 of the Sri Lanka Principals Service on a supernumerary basis. The examination is scheduled to be held in January 2027 in Colombo.

🌐 How to Apply Online

Candidates can obtain the application form through the β€œOnline Applications – Recruitment/EB Exams” section under β€œOur Services” on the website of the Department of Examinations Sri Lanka – www.doenets.lk.

Applications must be submitted online only.

After submitting the online application:

  2. ✍️ Complete the relevant sections of the printed application by handwriting.
  3. πŸ–ŠοΈ Have the applicant’s signature attested.
  4. 🏫 Submit a copy to the Head of the Institution for inclusion in the applicant’s personal file.

Applicants are responsible for any adverse consequences caused by delaying submission until the closing date.

The examination consists of three subjects. Each subject has a duration of 3 hours, carries 100 marks, and requires a minimum score of 40 marks to pass.

🏫 01. School Administration and Supervision

Questions will assess candidates’ knowledge and understanding of the role of a principal in ensuring the good governance of a school.

The syllabus includes:

πŸ—£οΈ Examination Medium

The examination will be conducted in Sinhala and Tamil medium.

Candidates must select one examination medium when submitting the application. The selected examination medium cannot subsequently be changed.

πŸ“’ Examination Results

The results list containing the results of all candidates who sit for the examination will be submitted to the Secretary, Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.

The results will be published on the Ministry website – www.moe.gov.lk. The Commissioner General of Examinations will not issue individual result documents to candidates.

⚠️ Important Application Instructions

The online examination application must be completed in English.

Candidates should carefully follow the instructions provided for completing the application. The Department will notify the mobile phone number or email address used to access the system regarding whether the submitted application has been accepted or rejected as a valid application.

❗ Incomplete applications will be rejected without notice.

Candidates should also carefully check personal information such as:

  • Full name
  • National Identity Card number
  • Address
  • Other personal details

Requests to amend such information after the results have been issued will not be considered.

🎫 Admission Cards

The Commissioner General of Examinations will issue admissions online to candidates who have submitted duly completed applications before the closing date, subject to the required qualifications.

Candidates will be informed through a web notification/SMS when admissions are issued.

If an admission is not received, candidates should contact the Institutional Examinations Organization Branch of the Department of Examinations Sri Lanka as instructed in the notification.

The candidate’s signature on the admission must be attested by the Head of the Institution or an authorized officer. Candidates must bring the admission with the attested signature to the examination hall. Candidates who fail to submit the admission will not be permitted to sit the examination.

πŸͺͺ Valid Documents for Identity Verification

Candidates must prove their identity to the satisfaction of the invigilator for each subject.

The following documents are accepted:

βœ… Valid Passport
βœ… Valid Sri Lankan Driving Licence

Candidates must also comply with the examination hall identity-verification requirements concerning their face and ears.

πŸ’° Examination Fees

For the first attempt, no examination fee will be charged for the entire examination or any part of it.

For subsequent examinations, the fee is:

Payments must be made using one of the payment methods provided through the online system:

The examination fee must be paid in full. Applications with underpayments or overpayments will be rejected.

Payments made for the examination are not refundable or transferable to another examination.

⚠️ Important Notice to Candidates

Candidates are subject to the rules imposed by the Commissioner General of Examinations regarding the conduct of the examination. Violation of these rules may result in penalties.

The decision of the Commissioner General of Examinations regarding examination results is final.

If there is any discrepancy or inconsistency between the Sinhala, English and Tamil versions of the announcement, action will be taken according to the Sinhala version.
