🎓 Educational & Vocational Qualifications

Applicants must meet the prescribed educational and vocational qualifications.

📚 Educational Qualification

Applicants should have passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination in six subjects at one sitting, including credit passes in:

• Sinhala/Tamil/English Language
• Mathematics
• Two other subjects

Alternatively, the Gazette specifies National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 03 as an educational qualification route.

Experience in the relevant field obtained from a Government institution or recognized private-sector institution will be considered an additional qualification for the post.

💰 Salary Scale

The monthly salary scale specified in the Gazette is:

Rs. 50,090 – 10 × Rs. 540 – 10 × Rs. 630 – 11 × Rs. 1,010 – 10 × Rs. 1,190 – Rs. 84,420

Salary scale: MT 1, according to Schedule II of Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025.

Recruitment includes a Written Examination followed by a Practical Vocational Test.

2. Subject-related General Knowledge

• Duration: 1 hour

🔧 Practical Vocational Test

• Duration: 2 hours
• Total Marks: 100
• Pass Marks: 50%

The written examination is conducted first. Candidates who pass the written examination may be called for the practical vocational test according to the procedure specified in the Gazette.

The practical vocational test includes equipment installation and repair, fault identification, equipment use, single-phase motors, three-phase motors, D.C. motors, heating coils, oscilloscopes, star-delta circuits and power supply circuits.

The fee should be paid at any Bank of Ceylon branch to the account specified in the Gazette. The payment receipt should be firmly affixed to the relevant space in the specimen application.

Money orders and stamps will not be accepted. Applicants are also advised to keep a copy of the application and payment receipt.

🪪 Accepted Identity Documents

Candidates must prove their identity at the examination hall. The following documents are accepted:

• National Identity Card
• Valid Passport
• Valid Sri Lankan Driving Licence

Candidates must also comply with the identity-verification requirements specified in the Gazette and examination admission instructions.

📋 Selection Process

The recruitment process consists of:

Written Examination → Practical Vocational Test → Interview → Selection

Candidates who pass the written examination may be called for the practical vocational test. Candidates who pass the practical test may then be called for an interview according to the procedure and merit requirements specified in the Gazette.

The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English, and candidates may choose one examination medium.
