📢 Applications are invited for the posts of Chief Editor of the Sinhala Dictionary Office and Chief Editor of the Sinhala Encyclopaedia Office under the Department of Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.

These positions are offered on a contract basis for one year. Eligible candidates are invited to submit their applications by registered post before the closing date.

The following vacancies are available:

• 📖 Chief Editor – Sinhala Dictionary Office
• 📚 Chief Editor – Sinhala Encyclopaedia Office

Both positions are offered on a contract basis.

Completed applications must reach the Director of Cultural Affairs, Department of Cultural Affairs, 8th Floor, Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla, on or before 16.10.2026.

💰 Salary / Remuneration

The selected candidate will receive:

💵 Monthly Allowance: Rs. 150,000

This amount includes a transport and fuel allowance of Rs. 50,000.

📌 Contract Conditions

• 📅 Contract period: One year
• ⚠️ The appointment does not carry an entitlement to permanent appointment.
• ❌ The appointee will not be entitled to privileges available to permanent officers.

🎓 Educational Qualification

Applicants should:

🎓 Possess a Doctoral Degree from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Professional Qualifications: Not applicable.

👨‍🏫 Experience Requirements

Applicants should meet one of the following experience requirements:

Option 1

👨‍🏫 At least 10 years of satisfactory service as a:

• Senior Professor
• Professor
• Associate Professor

at a university recognized by the University Grants Commission.

OR

Option 2

📚 At least 5 years of continuous and satisfactory service as an Editor in a Kosha Grantha Office.

🌐 Language Requirements

Applicants should have proficient knowledge of:

• 🇬🇧 English
• 🪷 Pali
• 📜 Sanskrit

The ability to express views orally and written knowledge will be assessed at the structured interview.

💪 Physical & Other Qualifications

Applicants should:

• Be sufficiently physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the post and serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
• 🇱🇰 Be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• ⭐ Be of excellent character.
• ✅ Have completed the required qualifications by the date specified in the Gazette notice.

🎂 Age Limit

Applicants should be:

🔹 Not less than 60 years of age

🔹 Not more than 72 years of age

Recruitment will be carried out through a structured interview.

The qualifications of applicants will also be examined during the structured interview.
