Wayamba University of Sri Lanka has announced applications for the 2nd Intake (2026–2027) of the Diploma in Food Technology conducted by the Department of Food Science & Technology, Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries & Nutrition.

🎯 Admission Requirements
Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications:
- GCE A/L – Three Passes
A minimum of three passes in the GCE (A/L) examination in the Biological Science, Physical Science or Technology stream in one sitting. - GCE A/L – Two Passes + Experience
Two passes in the GCE (A/L) examination in the Biological Science, Physical Science or Technology stream in one sitting, together with at least one year of work experience in a food-related industry. - Commerce or Arts Stream + Experience
Three passes in the GCE (A/L) examination in the Commerce or Arts stream in one sitting, together with at least three years of work experience in a food-related industry. - NVQ Qualification
Successful completion of an NVQ Level 4 qualification (GCE A/L equivalent) in the field of Food Science or Food Technology. - Other Qualifications
Other qualifications recommended by the Board of Study and acceptable to the Senate of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka may also be considered.
📝 Selection Method
Applicants who fulfil the admission requirements will be called for an interview.
Candidates who successfully complete the selection process will be admitted to the Diploma in Food Technology programme.
⏳ Duration of the Programme
The Diploma in Food Technology is conducted over one academic year (2026–2027).
💻 Medium & Mode of Instruction
- 🌐 Conducted through Open and Distance Learning.
- 🗣️ Medium of instruction: English.
- 📚 Online academic sessions will be held on Saturday evenings and Sundays.
- 🧪 Practical sessions and examinations will be conducted on Sundays.
- 💻 Learning materials will be provided through the Learning Management System (LMS).
💰 Course Fee
The total course fee for the one-year Diploma in Food Technology programme is:

- 💳 Rs. 52,000.00 at the time of registration
- 💳 Balance payable in two instalments of Rs. 50,000.00 each
📅 Commencement
The programme is scheduled to commence in October / November 2026.
