The Department of National Museums under the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs has called applications from eligible Sri Lankan citizens for recruitment to several posts in the Management Assistant (Non-Technical – Segment 2) Service Category (MN-1-2025).
Applications should reach the Director General, Department of National Museums, Colombo 07, on or before 30 September 2026.

🎓 Educational Qualifications
🦅 Taxidermist
Applicants should have:
- Passed the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination in six subjects at one sitting.
- Credit passes in Sinhala/Tamil/English language, Mathematics and two other subjects.
- Passed at least two subjects at G.C.E. Advanced Level in the Biology stream, excluding the Common General Test.
- Under the old syllabus, three subjects are required at Advanced Level.
🧑💼 Receptionist
Applicants should have:
- Passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in six subjects at one sitting.
- Credit passes in Sinhala/Tamil/English language, Mathematics and two other subjects.
- Passed at least two subjects at G.C.E. Advanced Level in any stream, excluding the Common General Test.
- Under the old syllabus, three subjects are required at Advanced Level.
📹 CCTV Operator
Applicants should have:
- Passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in six subjects at one sitting.
- Credit passes in Sinhala/Tamil/English language, Mathematics and two other subjects.
- Passed at least two subjects at G.C.E. Advanced Level in any stream, excluding the Common General Test.
- Under the old syllabus, three subjects are required at Advanced Level.
📜 Professional Qualifications
In addition to the educational qualifications:
Taxidermist
- A certificate obtained by participating in a Zoology-related workshop conducted by an association such as the Young Zoologists’ Association or Environmentalists.
Receptionist
- Successful completion of a Diploma Course in English Language of at least six months’ duration from a government-recognized institute.
CCTV Operator
- Successful completion of a Diploma Course in Computer Literacy of at least six months’ duration from a government-recognized institute.
💼 Experience Requirement
Applicants should have one year of experience in the relevant field.
👤 Other Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Be of excellent character.
- Be physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka and perform the duties of the relevant post.
- Fulfil all required qualifications and the prescribed age limit by the closing date.
🎂 Age Limit
Applicants should be:
18 to 30 years of age as at 30 September 2026.
💰 Salary
The post carries the following monthly salary scale under MN-1-2025:
Rs. 45,230 – 10 × Rs. 540 – 11 × Rs. 630 – 10 × Rs. 890 – 10 × Rs. 1,190 – Rs. 78,360
Salary will be paid from the effective date of appointment according to the provisions of Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025.

Only candidates who fulfil the required qualifications will be called for the written examination.
📚 Written Examination
The examination consists of two subjects:

👥 General Interview
No marks will be awarded at the General Interview. The interview will be used to verify whether candidates who pass the written examination have fulfilled the required qualifications.
📮 How to Apply
Applications should be prepared by the applicant on A4-size paper (21 × 29 cm), using both sides of the paper, according to the specimen application form included in the Gazette notification.
Incomplete applications or applications that do not follow the prescribed specimen format will be rejected without prior notice.
The applicant’s signature must be attested by an authorized person specified in the Gazette notification, including a Government School Principal, Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Oaths, Notary Public, commissioned officer of the Armed Forces, specified Police officer, or an eligible permanent Public Service officer.

⚠️ Important Notice
Providing false information or intentionally suppressing important information can result in cancellation of candidature or dismissal from service if discovered after appointment.
The appointment is permanent and pensionable, subject to the conditions stated in the Gazette notification. The probation period is three years, and officers recruited to Grade III must pass the First Efficiency Bar Examination within three years of recruitment.
