🎯 Job Duties
📚 Document Repairer
The Document Repairer is responsible for the conservation of printed books, documents, manuscripts, library books and various museum artefacts belonging to the Library of the Department of National Museums.
The position also involves responsibility for the custody and safety of assigned materials and carrying out other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
⚡ Electrician
The Electrician will be responsible for repairing faults in power supply lines at the Department of National Museums and regional museums.
Duties also include plumbing repairs and maintenance, monitoring the operation of the electrical transformer and other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
🪚 Carpenter
The Carpenter will carry out the preparation, repair and maintenance of wooden items at institutions belonging to the Department of National Museums whenever necessary.
Other duties may also be assigned by the Head of Department.
🎓 Educational Qualifications
Applicants for the Document Repairer position must have passed six subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in not more than two sittings, with at least two Credit passes.

💰 Salary – Department of National Museums Jobs 2026
The applicable monthly salary scale is:
💵 Rs. 41,800 – Rs. 65,560
The salary scale is Rs. 41,800 – 10 × Rs. 490 – 10 × Rs. 540 – 10 × Rs. 590 – 12 × Rs. 630 – Rs. 65,560, under PL-2-2025 of Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025.
Salary will be paid from the effective date of appointment according to the provisions of Schedule II of the relevant circular.
🏢 Nature of Employment
The posts are permanent and pensionable.
Selected officers are subject to the relevant Widows’ and Orphans’ Pension Scheme / Widowers’ and Orphans’ Pension Scheme provisions and future Government policy decisions.
The appointment is subject to a three-year probation period. Officers recruited to Grade III must pass the First Efficiency Bar Examination within three years from the date of recruitment.
