The prospective applicant should possess:

• 🎓 A postgraduate qualification, preferably a Ph.D. related to Agriculture.
• 💼 Appropriate administrative experience.
• 🔬 A sound academic background and an excellent record of research and management.
• 🤝 Excellent interpersonal skills.
• 🌱 An understanding of the Institute’s commitment to the community.
• 🌐 The ability to establish and maintain working relationships with organizations within the University and with national and international institutions.

👨‍💼 Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of the PGIA is a Full-Time Officer and serves as:

• 🏛️ The Principal Executive Officer
• 🎓 The Principal Academic Officer
• 💰 The Accounting Officer of the Institute
• 👥 An ex-officio member and Chairman of the Board of Management
• 📋 Chairman of the Coordinating Committee
• 📚 An ex-officio member of each Board of Study of the Institute

The successful candidate will be expected to provide strong academic leadership and contribute to the continued development and diversification of the Institute’s academic programmes and outreach activities.

The Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture (PGIA) is the only institute of postgraduate studies in agriculture in Sri Lanka.

Over the past 50 years, the Institute has expanded into many diverse fields of agriculture. PGIA aims to further expand and diversify its academic programmes while undertaking outreach activities that respond to changes in the agricultural sector.

The successful Director will play an important role in advancing these objectives and contributing to the economic development of Sri Lanka.
