🏗️ Engineer (Civil) Jobs in Sri Lanka 2026 – Contract Basis Vacancies
The Eastern Provincial Public Service Commission has called for applications to recruit retired officers of the Sri Lanka Engineering Service (Civil) to the post of Engineer (Civil) on a contract basis.
According to PPSC Circular No. AD/ENG/Con.Basis/2026/01, applications are invited for 3 vacancies in selected departments of the Eastern Province.

The appointments will be made on a contract basis to perform the duties of Engineer (Civil).
👷 Who Can Apply?
This recruitment is mainly intended for retired officers of the Sri Lanka Engineering Service who meet the required qualifications and conditions specified in the official notice.
Eligible applicants who have completed all the required qualifications may apply for the vacancies.
🎓 General Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following general requirements:
- 🇱🇰 Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- 💪 Must have good character and satisfactory physical and mental health.
- 🏗️ Must possess the physical ability required to perform the duties of the post.
- 🏠 Applicants should have been permanently resident in the Eastern Province continuously for three years immediately preceding the closing date of applications.
- 👴 The relevant officer must have been duly retired under Section 2(17) of the Establishments Code.
- ⚖️ The officer should not have been retired from service due to disciplinary reasons, inefficiency, unsatisfactory service, or a similar reason.
- 📋 The officer’s service record before retirement should have been satisfactory, and the officer should not have received disciplinary punishment.
📢 Important Note on Residence
If a sufficient number of applications are not received from qualified applicants residing in the Eastern Province, applications from other provinces may also be considered, provided that the applicants meet the relevant conditions stated in the notification.
🎂 Age Limit
Applicants must be not more than 65 years of age as at the closing date for applications.
💰 Salary / Allowance
The selected officers will receive the applicable monthly remuneration in accordance with the provisions of:
- 📄 Public Administration Circular No. 03/2018
- 📄 Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025
The official notice specifies that remuneration will be paid according to the relevant provisions of these circulars.
📆 Contract Period
The appointment will initially be made for a period of one year from the date of appointment.
The contract will remain effective until either:
- the completion of the one-year period, or
- a permanent officer is appointed to the relevant post,
whichever is applicable according to the conditions stated in the notification.
📝 Selection Procedure
Recruitment for these positions will be carried out through an interview.
The selection will be based on the qualifications and skills assessed during the interview process.
The appointment will be made according to the recommendations of the Eastern Provincial Public Service Commission and with the approval of the Governor of the Eastern Province, as specified in the notification.
