🎓 Educational Qualifications
Applicants must possess a postgraduate degree in Law from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or an institution recognized as an institution authorized to award degrees by the UGC.
⚖️ Professional Qualifications
Applicants must have been sworn in as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
💼 Required Experience
Applicants must have at least 15 years of active professional experience in criminal proceedings after being sworn in as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.

Applicants must:
- Be citizens of Sri Lanka.
- Have an excellent character.
- Be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position and serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
- Have fulfilled all required qualifications by the date specified in the recruitment notice.
🎂 Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 40 years
- Maximum Age: 54 years

💰 Salary and Allowances
The salary scale applicable to this position is:
Rs. 212,000 – 10 × Rs. 4,950 – Rs. 261,500
The salary code is AC-E4-2025, with an initial salary step of Rs. 212,000. Other allowances approved by Parliament for the position on 17 March 2026 are also payable.
Important salary note: According to the Gazette, appointments made before 01 January 2027 will receive a salary of Rs. 183,300, in accordance with Schedule II of the applicable salary scale.
📝 Selection Procedure
Candidates will be selected based on the results of a structured interview.
The interview carries a total of 100 marks, allocated as follows:
- Additional Educational Qualifications – 20 marks
- Additional Service Experience – 10 marks
- English Language Proficiency – 10 marks
- Recommendations regarding Court Proceedings – 30 marks
- Skills demonstrated at the Interview – 30 marks
The minimum score considered for selection is 60 marks. Among qualified applicants, the candidate with the highest merit ranking at the structured interview will be selected.
The interview panel will consist of three members.

Attach one certified photocopy of each of the following documents:

The applicant’s signature on the application must be certified by a Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Oaths, Attorney-at-Law, Notary Public, commissioned officer of the Armed Forces, or an executive officer of a government institution, as specified in the Gazette.
📋 Employment Conditions
- The appointment is permanent and subject to the applicable recruitment procedure.
- Employees are entitled to Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF) benefits.
- The appointment is subject to a three-year probationary period.
- Confirmation in service depends on satisfactory work, attendance, conduct, and performance during the probationary period.
- Annual performance evaluations will be conducted, and salary increments will be granted according to the applicable performance requirements.
- Officers may be required to serve anywhere in Sri Lanka according to service requirements.
- The recruitment process is conducted in English.
