The Central Environmental Authority (CEA), under the Ministry of Environment, has announced vacancies for qualified and experienced Sri Lankan citizens.
The Authority is recruiting for the following Assistant Director positions:
- π Assistant Director (Administration) β MM 1-1
- βοΈ Assistant Director (Legal) β MM 1-1

πΌ Available Vacancies
π 1. Assistant Director (Administration) β MM 1-1
Qualifications & Experience β External Applicants:
π A degree in one of the following fields recognized by the UGC:
- Human Resources Management
- Business Management
- Public Management
- Supply Management
AND
πΌ A minimum of five (05) years of post-qualifying experience at Executive Level in:
- Personnel Management
- Human Resource Management
- General Administration
- Supply Management
Internal Applicants:
Applicants must have:
- The qualifications required for external candidates; OR
- Five years of satisfactory service in Human Resources Management or General Administration at Junior Manager level in the CEA.
βοΈ 2. Assistant Director (Legal) β MM 1-1
Qualifications & Experience β External Applicants:
π A Bachelorβs Degree in Law recognized by the UGC and enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law.
AND
βοΈ A minimum of five (05) years of post-qualifying experience at the Bar as a Practicing Lawyer.
Internal Applicants:
Applicants must have:
- The qualifications required for external candidates; OR
- Five years of satisfactory service as a Legal Officer at Junior Manager level in the CEA.
π Age Limit
Applicants should be:
- β Not less than 22 years
- β οΈ Not more than 45 years
The age limit will not apply to applicants already in the state service.
π° Salary Scale
Rs. 91,690.00 β 10 Γ 2,480.00 β 15 Γ 3,450.00 β 168,240.00
π Salary details:
- π΅ Effective from 01 January 2026: Rs. 81,710/-
- π΅ Effective from 01 January 2027: Rs. 91,690/-
π Fringe Benefits
Successful applicants will receive the following benefits:
- π° Cost of Living Allowance: Rs. 17,800.00
- π Group transportation facilities
- πΌ Professional Allowance: Rs. 25,000.00 per month
- π Telephone allowance as applicable
- π₯ Medical insurance scheme

Every applicant should:
- π±π° Be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- πͺ Be physically and mentally fit to discharge the duties of the post.
- β Be of excellent moral character.
π Recruitment Procedure

Selection will be based on the approved Scheme of Recruitment (SOR) and the merit list.

The appointment is permanent with entitlement to:
