👔 About the Position

The Director General (CEO) is the highest-level Executive Officer of ACCIMT and is responsible for the overall activities and administrative and financial affairs of the Institute.

The successful candidate will work under the general direction and control of the Board of Directors and will be expected to provide leadership to the staff while contributing to official achievements, technology generation and technology transfer.

The major duties of the Director General & CEO include:

• 💼 Overall administrative and financial control of the Institute.
• 📈 Formulating plans and directing activities to increase revenue.
• 🏛️ Advising the Board on policy matters.
• 🤝 Coordinating activities with relevant agencies.
• 🗣️ Attending relevant Board meetings of other institutions.
• 🌐 Working with relevant international agencies.
• 🎓 Participating in local and international conferences, seminars and workshops.
• 📝 Submitting reports and publications.
• 📌 Performing any other duties assigned by the Board of Governors.

💰 Salary & Benefits

The post carries the HM 2-3 salary scale:

Rs. 173,000 – 12 × Rs. 4,850 – Rs. 231,200

The advertisement also states a basic salary of Rs. 150,325/-, plus Rs. 17,800/- Cost of Living Allowance and other applicable allowances under government circular provisions.

🎓 Qualifications

The recruitment notice provides two qualification routes.

1️⃣ External Candidates

Applicants should possess one of the following:

Engineering / Science Qualification

A four-year full-time Degree or Bachelor of Science in Engineering in a relevant engineering discipline such as Electronics, Telecommunication or another relevant field, awarded by a recognized university in Sri Lanka and recognized by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka for Associate Membership; OR one of the alternative professional engineering qualifications specified in the vacancy notice.

Alternatively, candidates may possess a four-year full-time Degree or Bachelor of Science in a relevant discipline such as:

• ⚛️ Physics
• 🔭 Astronomy
• 🛰️ Space Science
• 🗺️ Geomatics
• ➗ Mathematics
• 🔬 Another relevant field

The qualification must be from a recognized university or institution recognized by the University Grants Commission.

Professional Qualification

Candidates should also possess a PhD in a relevant field from a recognized university, or professional registration as a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (CEng., FIESL).

💼 Experience

Applicants should have:

Minimum 20 years of experience as an Engineer/Scientist or in a similar capacity of comparable experience, including not less than 05 years at Senior Managerial level, with proven ability to:

• Lead and direct multidisciplinary teams
• Properly deploy resources
• Efficiently manage human and other resources
• Work in a Government Department, State Corporation, Statutory Board or reputed Mercantile Establishment

2️⃣ Alternative Professional Route

Applicants may also qualify through the alternative engineering qualification route specified in the notice, together with:

• 👷 Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer
• 🏢 Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (CEng., MIESL)

OR

Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer of the Engineering Council of the United Kingdom (UK) or Corporate Membership of a professional engineering institution in the relevant discipline in the UK.

💼 Required Experience

A minimum of 20 years of experience as an Engineer or in a similar capacity, including not less than 10 years at Senior Managerial level, with proven leadership and resource-management experience.

🎓 Postgraduate Qualification Preference

Preference will be given to candidates possessing a recognized postgraduate degree in Business Administration.

🏢 Internal Candidates

Internal candidates should have:

• At least 5 years of satisfactory service as a Deputy Director General (Technical Operations/Planning & Development/Space Technology Applications) in the Senior Manager (HM 2-2) category at ACCIMT.
• Proven ability to lead and direct multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in the proper deployment and efficient management of human and other resources.

📌 Preference: Candidates possessing a postgraduate degree in Business Administration will be preferred.

🎂 Age Limit

Applicants should:

• Be not less than 35 years of age.
• Be not more than 55 years of age.
