π Institute of Technology University of Moratuwa β National Diploma in Technology (NDT) 2026/2027
π’ Applications are now invited for admission to the National Diploma in Technology (NDT) Course 2026/2027 conducted by the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa (ITUM) at Diyagama, Homagama.
The NDT is a 3-year full-time course conducted in English medium, consisting of two years of academic study and one year of industrial training.

The course offers opportunities to study in several technology and engineering fields under two main sets:

β Eligibility Requirements
π Age Requirement
Applicants should be below 24 years of age on 31 December 2025.
Applicants who are below 20 years of age on 31 December 2025 will receive preference for admission to Marine Engineering Technology and Nautical Studies.
Candidates applying for these two maritime courses will also be required to undergo a special medical test and interview.
π Educational Qualifications
Applicants must have obtained passes in the following three subjects at one sitting of the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination:
- π Physics
- π§ͺ Chemistry
- β Combined Mathematics or Higher Mathematics
The A/L examination must have been conducted in 2023, 2024 or 2025 by the Commissioner General of Examinations, Sri Lanka.
π Additional Requirement for Maritime Courses
Applicants applying for Marine Engineering Technology or Nautical Studies must have obtained a Credit Pass (C) for English Language at the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination.
β οΈ Applicants already registered as full-time students at a university under the UGC, except the Open University of Sri Lanka, or at a Higher Educational Institute under the Ministry of Higher Education, are not eligible to apply.
π Selection Criteria
Admission will be based on:
- π G.C.E. (A/L) examination performance
- π Aptitude test conducted by the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa
Candidates who pass the aptitude test will be selected according to their G.C.E. (A/L) Z-Scores.
The selection will apply:
- 40% Merit
- 60% District Quota
The aptitude test marks and the applicant’s order of preference will also be considered when allocating the field of study.

Applicants must complete the following process:
1οΈβ£ Submit the Online Application
Applicants should first submit the application online through the application form available at:

After submitting the online application, applicants must download the auto-generated printable copy.
2οΈβ£ Certify the Printed Application
The downloaded hard copy must be certified as indicated in the application form, including the relevant sections mentioned in the notice.
3οΈβ£ Send the Hard Copy by Registered Post
The duly completed application should be sent by Registered Post.

Applicants must include a 9″ Γ 4″ self-addressed envelope with Rs. 130 worth of stamps together with the hard copy of the application.

The application fee is:

Applications must be submitted online and the required hard copy must reach the specified address by the closing date.
π Aptitude Test
Applicants shortlisted according to their G.C.E. (A/L) performance under the Merit and District Quota will be called for an aptitude test conducted by the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa.

Selected candidates must produce the originals of the following documents at registration:
- π G.C.E. (A/L) Certificate
- π Certificate indicating G.C.E. (A/L) Z-Score
- π« School Leaving Certificate
- π Birth Certificate
- π Affidavit supporting any changes in name appearing on different documents/certificates
β οΈ Important Notice to Applicants
Candidates should carefully note the following:
πΉ Once registered for the National Diploma in Technology Course, a candidate will not be eligible for admission to another course at this Institute or another university in Sri Lanka, except the Open University of Sri Lanka, or another Higher Educational Institute under the Ministry of Higher Education during the course period.
πΉ Students who have already registered at this Institute, another university in Sri Lanka, except the Open University of Sri Lanka, or another Higher Educational Institute are not eligible to apply.
πΉ All information provided in the application must be true and accurate. False or inaccurate information may result in discontinuation from the course.
