Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) Sri Lanka Announces Director General / CEO Vacancy 2026

The Industrial Technology Institute (ITI), operating under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Sri Lanka, has called for applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the prestigious position of Director General / Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – HM 2-3.

About the Industrial Technology Institute (ITI)

The Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) is the successor to the former Ceylon Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research (CISIR). The institute functions as a multidisciplinary research organization dedicated to promoting industrial development in Sri Lanka through:

Position Details

Post: Director General / CEO

Grade: HM 2-3

Organization: Industrial Technology Institute (ITI)

Location: 363, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07, Sri Lanka

Required Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must satisfy one of the following qualification pathways:

Option 1

• Bachelor’s Degree (4 years) in Science or Engineering recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Sri Lanka with First Class or Second Class Division.
• PhD in a relevant field.
• Minimum 20 years of experience after obtaining the first degree.
• At least 8 years of senior management experience.
• Minimum 5 years of post-PhD experience.
• Proven record in:
  • Research and Development
  • Publications
  • Patents
  • Technology Development
  • Technology Transfer

Option 2

• Bachelor’s Degree (4 years) in Engineering recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Sri Lanka with First Class or Second Class Division.
• Corporate Membership (Chartered) of a professional body recognized by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL).
• Minimum 20 years of experience after obtaining the first degree.
• At least 8 years of senior management experience.
• Minimum 5 years of post-charter experience.
• Strong track record in:
  • Research and Development
  • Publications
  • Patents
  • Technology Innovation
  • Technology Transfer

Age Requirement

Applicants should be not less than 40 years of age.

The selected candidate will hold office for a period of five (05) years or until reaching the age of 60 years, whichever occurs first, in accordance with the Science and Technology Development Act No. 11 of 1994.

Salary Scale

HM 2-3 Salary Structure

• Salary Scale: Rs. 173,000 – 231,200
• Increment Structure: 12 × Rs. 4,850
• Effective Date: 01 January 2027
• Initial Salary Step: Rs. 150,325
• Additional Government Approved Allowances Applicable

Provident Fund Contributions

• Employee Contribution: 10% of Gross Salary
