The Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka is calling for applications from qualified professionals for the position of Consultant for its Grassroots Grant Projects (GGP). 📋 Job Overview

The selected consultant will support the implementation, monitoring, and formulation of grassroots grant projects funded through Japan’s development assistance programs. The role requires strong communication, project management, and field monitoring skills.


🎓 Required Qualifications & Experience

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

✅ Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree is preferred.

✅ Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the development sector.
  • Experience in project management consultancy is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience with donor agencies will be an added advantage.
  • Field-level development experience is considered an asset.

✅ Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Strong time management abilities.
  • Experience in project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with NGOs and Government institutions.

✅ Language Requirements

  • Advanced English speaking and writing skills.
  • Fluency in Sinhala and/or Tamil is required.

💰 Salary & Benefits

📅 Contract Duration

  • September 2026 to August 2027.
  • Possibility of extension for one or two additional years based on mutual agreement.

💵 Salary

  • Salary will be determined according to the applicant’s qualifications and professional experience.

🚗 Travel Requirements

  • Although the position is based in Colombo, occasional travel throughout Sri Lanka is expected for project monitoring and implementation activities.

🔹 Conduct field visits and project evaluations.
🔹 Prepare project reports and documentation.
🔹 Coordinate with NGOs and government authorities.
