The Government Printing Department published its first gazette paper in 1802. Since then, the Government Printing Department has been the official printer and publisher of the Government of Sri Lanka. This department bears witness to the many social, political and technological changes that have taken place over the past two centuries. It is also one of the oldest state institutions in our country today.

This department handles various types of printing requirements such as printing of ballot papers, various types of forms required by government agencies, stamps to be kept confidential. The Department has the necessary machinery as well as a highly skilled staff.

The Government Printing Department, which has taken the first steps towards entering the information technology era, has facilitated the downloading of publications through the internet. Visit the “Publications” section of the website below to receive the publications in digital format.
