🏛️ Department of Archaeology Vacancies 2026 – Archaeological Assistant III & Watchman III (Open Basis)

The Department of Archaeology, under the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, has announced open recruitment for primary level (Non-Technical) posts at archaeological sites across Sri Lanka.

Eligible candidates are invited to apply for the following permanent government positions in 2026.

💰 Salary Scale

According to Public Administration Circular 10/2025 (approved from 25.03.2025):

PL-01-2025 Salary Scale
Rs. 40,000 – 10×450 – 10×490 – 10×540 – 12×590
Maximum: Rs. 61,880

🎓 Educational Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• Passed G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L)
• Passed in six (06) subjects
• In not more than two sittings
• With at least two credit passes

🧑‍🎓 Professional Qualifications (Special)

• A relevant professional qualification will be considered a special qualification

🏗️ Experience (Special)

• Relevant field experience will be treated as a special qualification

💪 Physical & Mental Fitness

• Candidates must be physically and mentally fit
• Must be able to serve anywhere in Sri Lanka

🎂 Age Limit (as at closing date)

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 45 years

📍 Other Mandatory Requirements

• Must be a permanent resident of the relevant province for the last 05 years
• Residency must be confirmed by a Grama Niladhari Certificate
• Must possess excellent character
• All qualifications must be fulfilled by the application closing date
