The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, has announced a valuable Capacity Building Training Programme for Sri Lankan Handcrafted Jewellery Designers. This beginner-level programme will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ), Jaipur, from 6 July to 23 July 2026.

This training programme is designed for aspiring jewellery designers who possess basic knowledge of handcrafted jewellery designing and wish to enhance their skills through modern Computer Aided Design (CAD) techniques.

Course Details

What Participants Will Learn

The programme provides hands-on training using Rhinoceros 3D CAD software, enabling participants to develop practical 3D jewellery design skills.

Key learning areas include:

• 3D jewellery modelling techniques
• NURBS-based design methodologies
• Converting 2D sketches into 3D jewellery models
• Ring and pendant design development
• Design visualization and evaluation
• Material optimization techniques
• CAD editing tools and workflows
• Creating 3D print-ready jewellery designs
• Industry-standard jewellery design practices

Participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, helping them build a strong foundation for advanced CAD design careers in the gem and jewellery industry.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Age Requirement

• Applicants should be below 30 years of age.

Educational Qualification

• Must have completed an Advanced Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Jewellery Designing.

Experience Requirement

• Applicants with more than two years of experience as jewellery designers are not eligible.

Language Proficiency

• Adequate knowledge of the English language is required.

Health Requirements

• Applicants must be mentally and physically fit.

Passport Requirement

• A valid passport with a minimum validity period of six months is mandatory.

Selection Process

Due to limited seats, candidates will be selected through a formal interview process.
